Here we go, another new term in the lexicon of phishing derivatives – SMiShing.

Reported here on the McAfee site a new form of phishing has been dreamt up. Users receive a message on their mobile phone confirming they have signed up for a dating service at a $2/day charge, directing them to a web site to cancel the order if they didn’t actually sign up for the service.

Of course the web site they visit to cancel the fictitious order is laden with malware that turns their PC into a zombie and the rest is history.

This further underpins the need to educate and remind users on a regular basis that the bad guys are always looking for new angles to have a go, and they should never be complacent.
