Risky business this shopping lark

I was asked to give a quote the other day on some findings from Kaspersky Labs who did a survey on consumers attitudes to online shopping.

Out of 250 home computer users interviewed, 85% said they would buy some of their presents online and 33% plan to do so despite claiming their PC had been compromised by a hacker attack in the previous 6 months.

Obviously the hackers are gearing up for the Christmas rush – after all it is a numbers game they play (why do you think they go after Microsoft so much?) Yes, of course there is a risk. But then 3,500 people get killed on the UK roads each year, many I would suggest on the way to or from shopping trips!

Cheerful thought eh?
