Internet Service Provider is a company that provides individuals, businesses and enterprises access to the Internet, and all other services related to the Internet. Other services like mail accounts which form part of the net package and virtual hosting and even act as an Application Service Provider.

ISP’s can be either connected by a high speed line to a telecommunications provider or can be independent with their own gateways. There are many ISP’s providing different kind of internet access through various means like ordinary telephone line, ADSL, DSL, and a broadband connection through cable TV. AT&T, MCI, and AOL are some of the major ISP’s serving in the United States.
