It seems that distributing warez - pirated programs and files - on t'Internet is now viewed as a very serious offence by the authorities in the US, as reports are circulating that a warez purveyor has been jailed for 30 months across the Atlantic.

Dave Fish, aged 26 of Woodbury in Connecticut, has been given a two and half year prison sentence for maintaining a series of Web sites allowing punters to download pirated files.

Fish was handed his sentence by a Californian court last Monday for what the court called criminal copyright infringement.

He's also been given three year's probation on top of his prison sentence, even though he pleaded guilty to the charges.

It makes you wonder what would had happened if he had pleaded not guilty to the charges...
