A rapid decline for Sprint Nextel?
  • IconText size Icon Icon
Losing over a million subscribers in 3 months is a hard blow to Sprint’s esteem.

That said, they are still the third largest player in the US with 52.8 million subscribers, of which the majority are on high margin contracts.

Nevertheless Sprint wireless contribution turned to a $253 million loss for the first quarter of 2008, so 4000 employees will suffer the consequences.

Divesting themselves of the troubled WiMAX operation to Clearwire may help, but with Motorola experiencing difficulties, Sprint’s limited choice of handsets supporting CDMA & iDEN will hinder a rapprochement with their customers, and lay Sprint open to takeover.
