BT-Bashing Broadband Ad Lands Orange In Hot Waters With ASA
Triple Play Mobile Provider Orange has been criticised by the Advertising Standard Authority (ASA) for falsely claiming that BT customers could save nearly £200 if they switched from BT's Broadband Option 3 and BT Together Calling Plan Option 2 to its Home Max Package.

The adjudicating body felt that Orange was not fair to BT as it failed to highlight the significant differences that existed between the two offers; BT Home Hub for example offers a phone, Norton Security Suite and inclusive Wi-Fi minutes through BT's own FON hotspots, all of which had been discarded by Orange.

Furthermore, and as highlighted by Thinkbroadband, Orange's broadband prices are not uniform across the country as there is a £4 non-LLU (local loop unbundling) surcharge that applies to roughly 40 percent of the UK on top of an extra £2 for those not paying by Direct debit.

Orange will now be forced to amend/can the ads or face further reprimands from the watchdog.
