iPlayer fans will now have access to their favourite iPlayer services on their Nokia mobile phones, as Nokia and BBC Corporation have entered into a partnership that would allow BBC’s popular iPlayer to be accessible on Nokia’s N96 handsets.

The handset is scheduled to hit the floor on 1st of October and would let its users to stream and download the iPlayer programmes broadcasted over the past one week.

The services would be available using a built-in application that supports both 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity; however, the cost of downloading the programmes could run a bit high, as normal data transfer charges would be applicable on it.

The iPlayer services are already available - though for streaming purposes only - with other handheld devices, such as, iPhone and iTouch, Nokia N96 would be the first to offer on air iPlayer services to its users.

“The Nokia N96 is going to provide a gateway to quality viewing on the move and will the raise the bar for mobile screen and audio entertainment”, Simon Ainslie, MD Nokia said.
